Voluntary Return

Voluntary Return from the Netherlands

IOM supports migrants who voluntarily return to their country of origin or migrate to a third country where permanent residence is guaranteed (resettlement).

From the Netherlands, IOM cooperates with IOM offices in more than a 100 countries all over the world to assist migrants before, during and after the journey. Throughout the country IOM hosts consultation hours to speak to migrants and provide information without obligation regarding voluntary return to the country of origin or resettlement to a third country. An appointment with IOM can be made via the general phone number.

Basic support for voluntary departure from the Netherlands, such as a flight ticket and assistance to obtain a travel document, is offered under the REAN programme. In addition, IOM provides reintegration assistance through its programme Assisted Voluntary Return. Complementary support is given to vulnerable migrants, such as migrants with medical conditions, victims of trafficking, and unaccompanied minors.
