Movie ‘Wallah je te jure’ Hotly Debated

wallah1The movie “Wallah, Je te jure”, shown by IOM at Humanity House in The Hague in December, gained a lot of interest from the public.
This short movie produced by IOM Niger shows the journey from Senegal to Libya and eventually Europe by portraying different migrants along the route. No matter the cost, the goal to reach Europe will be achieved, "Wallah." But there are those who, tired from the journey, turn back home.
wallah2The screening was followed by a lively debate by panelists Lonneke Kapoen (Ministry of Security and Justice), Karin Willemse (Erasmus University) and Goof van Dormolen (Dutch Refugee Council) with questions from the audience.
The event marked the start of a recurring Migrant Movie and Debate Event in 2017, which will be organized by IOM at Humanity House. With this initiative, IOM The Hague participates in the Global Migration Film Festival involving screenings of migration-focused feature length and short films followed by panel discussions hosted by IOM missions around the world.
