Return and Reintegration for Families with Underage Children

Families with one or more children under the age of 18 who would like to return to their country of origin, can apply for extra reintegration assistance. From 15 August 2011 IOM offers the project Assisted Voluntary Return fro Families with Underage Children.

The AVR FC project aims to realise a sustainable voluntary return and reintegration of families with one or more children under the age of 18. The families have to reside in the special family shelters of the Central Agency for the Reception of Asylum Seekers (COA), with a pending or rejected asylum claim. The AVR FC project provides support in the decision-making process towards voluntary return, with the preparation for voluntary return, in drafting a family plan on return and reintegration prior to departure (FPRR), the journey back home and post arrival support in the country of origin to implement the FPRR.

In addition to the services provided under REAN and, if applicable, the HRT project the target group is entitled to tailor made in-kind reintegration assistance in combination with a cash grant. The in-kind services will partly start in the pre-departure phase and, depending on the type of services requested, continue up to a maximum of 12 months after arrival in the country of origin.

Outreach and counselling of families, based on making a well-informed decision, will be done by IOM.

The project starts on 15 August and has a duration of 18 months.
