In the framework of this project temporary placements can be realised to Afghanistan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ethiopia, Georgia, Sierra Leone and Sudan.
How it works
Migrants in the Netherlands who want to help with the
reconstruction of their country of origin can sign up with IOM. The
temporary placements can vary from a few weeks to three
months. Host institutions with vacancies in the countries
concerned can also sign up. IOM mediates to bring supply and demand
together. Migrants who temporarily return with IOM receive a
financial contribution. Besides the temporary return to the country
of origin, IOM facilitates virtual return assignments through
internet or videoconferencing. Until now TRQN has facilitated
around 300 temporary return assignments.
Cooperation partners
For TRQN II, IOM closely cooperates with migrant organizations including New Sudanese Organizations Network (NSON), Sierra Leone Professional Network, Platform of Bosnian Organizations in the Netherland, Georgian Diaspora Foundation (site in Dutch and Georgian only), Medical Committee Afghanistan-the Netherlands (MCAN), Meskel/Meleya Foundation and Sierra Leone Central Union (SLCU).
Results TRQN III
This project is funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and ends in July 2011. It was preceded by TRQN I (until March 2008). In the meantime IOM has facilitated around 450 temporary return assignments.
