Temporary return to the Western Balkans

As of 1 February 2011 a new project has been launched titled “Migration and Socio-Economic Development in Western Balkans, MIDWEB.

The project is managed by IOM Budapest, has a duration of 22 months and is funded by the European Commission.
The project’s aims are to strengthen and increase the capacity of the existing network of Migrant Service Centers in the Western Balkans in order to ensure efficient dissemination of information about legal channels for migration among potential labour migrants and to provide opportunities for return of skills and human capital and their contribution to the development of the Western Balkans (WB).

IOM The Hague will coordinate the Temporary and Virtual Return component of the project and will facilitate 60 short term assignments to the six Western Balkan countries (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro and Serbia). These assignments will be carried out by qualified migrants originating from one of the WB countries and residing within the EU (Austria, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Switzerland and the United Kingdom).
