The project Temporary Return of Qualified Nationals (TRQN) has been extended for another year until June 2012. TRQN engages higher skilled members of the diaspora in the reconstruction and development of their country of origin through temporary return assignments. TRQN II ended in June 2011. The extension will focus on temporary returns to Afghanistan and Sierra Leone.

The EC-UN Joint Migration and Development Initiative (JMDI) hosted a 2-day ‘Virtual Knowledge Fair’ on Migration and Development in parallel with the Civil Society Days of the 2009 Global Forum on Migration and Development (GFMD) in Athens, Greece. The first such M&D event of its kind, the Virtual Fair was a great success with over 3,800 visitors coming to the Fair from 153 countries in its first week.Read more
