Kick-Off IOM’s New CD4D Project

DEF2September saw the official launch of IOM NL’s new project Connecting Diaspora for Development (CD4D). IOM Focal Points from four participating countries (Sierra Leone, Somalia, Afghanistan and Ethiopia) and representatives from partner organizations and the Dutch government met in The Hague for a kick-off meeting and training on the concept of Theory of Change.
The kick-off meeting was followed by a first Taskforce meeting with representatives of our project partners, which include the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, PUM, EP-Nuffic NICHE, ADPC, VSO NL, TNU and the Maastricht University (MGSG).

CD4D is funded by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs and a continuation of IOM’s successful TRQN (Temporary Return of Qualified Nationals) project. The new project will connect diaspora experts with Dutch residency to key institutions that have been identified by the six target countries: Afghanistan, Ethiopia, Ghana, Morocco, Sierra Leone and Somalia. IOM will work with these institutions to build capacity through diaspora engagement, starting from a Theory of Change.
The project will be monitored and evaluated by the Maastricht Graduate School of Governance.
