Many Visit Open Day Asylum Seekers’ Centres

On the annual open day at the asylum seekers centers, the public also got aquainted with IOM’s activities. The national event attracted many visitors who showed an interest in the daily life of asylum seekers in the Netherlands.

IOM presented itself in many locations, together with partners COA, the Repatriation & Departure Service (DT&V), the Immigration Service (IND) and VluchtenlingenWerk. If migrants are not allowed to remain in the Netherlands, IOM can advise them about voluntary return and reintegration in their country of origin.

However IOM does much more, such as facilitating the relocation of refugees to the Netherlands and the arranging family reunification. Together with COA and the Foundation for Refugee Students (UAF), IOM prepares permit holders for their integration into the Dutch labour market. IOM also contributes to the development in countries of origin by connecting diaspora experts living in the Netherlands to host organizations.
