On 9 June, Ludovico Alcorta Prochazka, winner of the I am a Peruvian Migrant photography contest, and his sister Milena received a certificate from the Peruvian Consul General in Amsterdam, Jorge Eduardo Wurst Calle and Ahmed Kanaan of IOM the Netherlands.
Ludovico, who lives in the Netherlands, won a first prize in the Amateur Category of the I am a Peruvian migrant (Soy Migrante Peruano in Spanish) contest, initiated by the Peruvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, IOM Peru and the Photography School Image Center (Centro de la Imagen). His photograph was titled ‘A constant in a world of flow’ (Una constante en un mundo de flujo).
The contest offered Peruvians living abroad an opportunity to express their migratory experience through images. More than 150 photographs were submitted by participants in two categories: professional and amateur.
Jose Ivan Davalos from IOM Peru pointed out the importance of exploring the experiences of Peruvians living abroad: “We are sure that the contest will generate reflection about migratory issues and will promote dialogue concerning the benefits human mobility brings, as well as the challenges it represents.”
The photographs will be exhibited between June and September in several parks and public locations around Lima, Peru’s capital.
