Millions of people around the world left their country of origin to settle in another country. Migrants however do not forget their roots: they send money to their families, they involve their network and use their know-how for development.
On May 3rd, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) will show the documentary 'Als ik daar ben' (with English subtitles) by Marjolein Veldman in Humanity House, The Hague. Knowledge and experience from diaspora experts has a significant influence on the growth and development of their country of origin. In this light, IOM developed a special website Connecting Diaspora for Development on which experts can transfer their skills and knowledge by applying for short assignments with identified sectors in six countries.
This is the second edition of IOM's 'Movie&Debate Event', with movies about migration followed by a panel discussion.
IOM invites you to attend the Movie & Debate Event for a fruitful discussion. We are interested in your views! Due to limited seats, please be so kind as to register online through this link.
